Summary:
In this chapter it basically introduces the main character to us. It started off by using Jonas feeling, frightened, but what’s wrong with this word? Jonas doesn’t think there’s a problem about it. The word frightened was the word that he had feel about the aircraft a year ago. Nothing really special about it, he just never been seeing a war craft that near. But something special that we had been discovered is citizens need to listen to the speakers and obey it, in page. 2 of the book it says (the speakers had said. LEAVE YOUR BICYCLES WHERE THEY ARE. Instantly, obediently Jonas had dropped his bike on its side on the path behind his family’s dwelling. Looking through the front window, he had seen no people: none of the busy afternoon crew of Street Cleaners, Landscape Workers, and Food Delivery people who usually populated the community at that time of day. He saw only the abandoned bikes here and there on their sides; an upturned wheel on one was still revolving slowly) In the first sentence, the word obediently we can find out that Jonas is obeying what the speaker says but its not just Jonas obeying its everyone, the second and the third sentence had show us that its everyone obeying. Start from page.5 we’ve also find out that every family needs to have a meeting and express their feelings, and when Jonas sister Lily was expressing her feeling we can find out that their community have different laws then others,(pg.6 first and the second paragraph). Basically we’ve found out that people obey to the speaker, in their community there are different laws, main character of the book.
